Are you ready for romantic Valentine’s Day makeovers, unexpected proposals on 29th February, Mother’s Day treats or wonderful wedding events? There’s no doubt there will be a lot going on in the coming weeks.
Did you know that hair and beauty businesses lose between 10% and 25% of their clients each year? People move away, change their job or have a new routine and ‘poof!’, they’re gone. That’s why welcoming new customers for special events like these is such a great way to build up your business.
Finding your favourite clients
When it’s time for some pampering or a special treat, you are perfectly placed to provide just what people prefer.
Now is the ideal time to look at what you can offer to the star of the show or the leading man. Or why not offer special pampering packages to help them share the love?
Are you close to a restaurant or hotel that provides just the right atmosphere for a romantic liaison for special family moments? Can you work together offer a glamourous glow or a nippy new hairstyle that fits with your business and delivers something special for your clients?
Once people know what you can do, they’ll be sure to come back for more.
Be in the moment
Make sure you have plenty to say on your website and social media accounts about your top tips and treatments for special occasions.
Highlight some time-limited offers to tempt new clients to try something new or to add an extra treatment when they book, like lovely long nails or lashes.
Share some great images
Give your potential new clients a reason to look a little harder with some amazingly atmospheric photos for your blogs and social posts. Get into the spirit of Valentine’s or Mother’s Day, Easter or Springtime in general with features, flowers and furry animals.
Don’t hold back – just share fantastic images and tantalising temptations. Tell them some interesting tales about why or how different treatments work or who made the latest ‘must have’ look.
Then, remember to respond when someone says something positive and don’t forget to add some relevant hashtags too.
Get into Google
If you haven’t already set up Google My Business (GMB), then now is a really good time to start. Once you have a Gmail account you can create your GMB profile, choose your business category and add your branding, opening times, and images. Then you can post information, events and offers.
Better still, encourage your loyal customers to share reviews and feedback to give people confidence to make their first booking.
Deliver the ‘Wow!’ factor
Now that you have built interest for new clients to make a booking in honour of their special day, make sure that the whole experience is just perfect.

Best move I have made so far
